What is French Paradox

Resveratrol is mainly found in the skin of red grapes, red wine, which is the reason for study regarding French Paradox. French Paradox explains why French people in spite of consuming high calorie diet or high fat diet did not suffer from cardiovascular diseases. The study was conducted and it was found out that it was due to high consumption of red wine which has high antioxidants. Wine contains a biological element that is available in only limited quantity in other food items which is resveratrol. Besides peanuts, there is no other food item that has higher resveratrol content. The story of Resveratrol began in 1980s when Polygonum cuspidatum was used in Chinese and Japanese medicine in order to treat fungal diseases of liver, heart and blood vessels.
