Although not the problem it once was, Cellulites still causes distress to many women who have additional fat in the tissues of their outer thighs, behind and belly. Although rarer, men can also suffer with cellulites which are normally seen as regions that seem to be a lighter shade than the rest of the skin. Normally, with good blood circulation, a person will have smooth skin layers, but when there is fluid in the layers, the embedded fats, and other chemical poisons do not get washed out of the system and become trapped within the skin. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel’ appearance.

Cellulite

The appearance of the cellulites will depend upon each person’s genetics, their lifestyle and the weight of the person, all of which are elements in cellulite development. Because there are different forms of cellulites, even sporty and fit people can suffer with them even if they are not chubby, including the likes of professional dancers and runners because the cellulites are found contained in the muscle tissue itself. It’s the hard or solid cellulites that cause trouble and are hard to get rid of as they are attached directly to the muscular tissues. The easier cellulites to see are the soft forms and while they are more unsightly because they may seem to hang from the skin and affect larger muscle tissue regions, they are substantially easier to remove.

Regrettably, it’s adult females who are most often the ones with cellulite problems and they can start anytime after they turn fourteen years of age plus as they mature, the affected areas become larger. Often, cellulites come about because a woman has begun taking the contraceptive pill or has just given birth and even people who have sustained injuries can acquire cellulites.

Having the correct diet and plenty of exercise is still believed to be the best way to control cellulites as physical exercise will improve the blood circulation which in turn improves the appearance of the skin. Although all types physical exercise can help, it is the diet that needs to be more specific: one that is detoxifying and comprises plenty of fruit and vegetables. Whole grain foods are also hugely recommended but foods that should be avoided include frequent favorites such as coffee and fizzy drinks.

Although so far unproved, it is considered by some that spicy foods may also help add to the formation of cellulites. The build up of poisons in the body can also be avoided by not drinking alcohol or smoking. Although cellulites are not necessarily created by a high fat diet fat is difficult to flush out of the system and can contribute to the cellulites establishment so a low-fat diet is preferred.

Although they cannot completely get rid of cellulites, cellulite ointments are quite successful in treating and hiding cellulite. The creams work by making the skin more elastic and contain alpha-hydroxyl acid which doesn’t really get rid of the cellulite but helps to obscure it. Water, whether drunk or in therapy form is good for the skin as it removes poisons and fats from the system, improving the blood circulation and digestion, in effect rendering the cellulites less apparent.
