Hangove

A serious issue with supposed hangover curatives is that they often promote people to drink more than they should. The best hangover tip available, that’s no cost and is probably the best remedy for a hangover in the world but the hardest is to just resist that last drink. The treatment is trying to cure a number of issues caused by excess alcohol in the system, most of which are caused by dehydration.

It is acknowledged fact that some drinks give you worse hangovers than others due to the activities of toxins contained in the alcohol. It’s the concentration of these impurities that also help to determine how rapidly you will become intoxicated and how bad your hangover will be. For instance the white (vodka, gin etc) spirits have less impurities than the colored ones (whisky and cognac) as they have been filtered. The easiest thing is to not have to search for hangover remedies in the first place by moderating our drinking habits. This happens all too often when people drink a large quantity of alcohol in a very short space of time or because they haven’t eaten anything, but they only have themselves to blame. When you drink at a measured pace, the body is able to assimilate and break down the alcohol more efficiently and hangover remedies aren’t required.

Regrettably, we seem to be destined to search for cures for a hangover and this is always a good conversation at any bar in the world. Still discovering the cure for a hangover is like the search for the Holy Grail, no-one really knows if it exists but we all keep looking! Re-hydrating your body before you sleep is an easy and no cost remedy for a hangover but how many individuals do this before they retire and prevent the hangover next morning?

In order to re-hydrate your body, try downing a large glass of cold mineral water before bed and also a couple of aspirin or equivalent, to help with the head ache you will have, then a glass of orange juice the following morning to help replace the lost vitamin C. This can work on many occasions but there is no treatment for a hangover that works that well as you get older. A recent addition to the hangover curatives list is bananas which apparently contain large quantities of fructose and potassium which are two minerals and nutrients lost when drinking.

As luck would have it, bananas contain a natural antacid to help with the sickness and because they are high in magnesium they can help loosen up those beating blood vessels that cause a hangover head ache. There are still those seasoned souls that believe that drinking more alcohol the following day in the form of a ‘Bloody Mary’ is a remedy for a hangover but the panel is still out on this one. But just learning how to say ‘thanks but no thanks’ could save you years of unneeded suffering and frustration looking for a curative for a hangover!
